2018 Goals and Objectives

I love going through my goals and objectives year after year.  It gives me an opportunity to really think about the changes that have occurred over the past year and then in the larger scheme of things the past 9 years of keeping this site active.  My first annual goals post was way back in January of 2009.  I was one year into what turn into a decade+ career, a newlywed, and childless! It is really easy to blink and see how much has changed!  Every year I write mostly specific goals that I can act upon.  For me, this works a [...]

Reviewing my 2017 Goals and Objectives

Every year since I started this blog I have gone through my goals and objectives for the upcoming year.  Usually there is an overarching theme I like to give myself.  Like my net worth posts, I know the exercise is done mostly for me; although what owner of a public blog doesn't like some feed back!  For calendar year 2017 my overarching goal was to keep up the intensity.  Specifically I wrote, Last year [2016] my overlying goals and objective theme was that I was getting too complacent, and more specifically, it was time to get over the fact that good is the enemy of [...]

November 2017 Dividend Growth Portfolio Update

While this account is tiny compared to my assets in general, it is absolutely my favorite part of my financial empire hut, and that is the reason I share my active moves within it.  I truly believe that one day, this account will be able to provide my family with a viable stream of income that can keep up with inflation as I get older. My November Dividend Champion/Contender Purchase The following information was written in real time when I made the purchase. After creating my November dividend watch list I ended up with the following Companies: Name Symbol Market Cap (mil) [...]

Buying a TINY Permanent Whole Life Insurance Policy

I have discussed why I like whole life insurance policies in the past, and why I have bought policies on myself, my son, my daughter and The Wife.  I am well aware this isn't a particularly popular position to take on interwebs as buy term and invest the difference is the common mantra.  However, with a national average of 5% odds say that those that are claiming that is their plan aren't following through. Nonetheless, this past week I converted a tiny piece of The Wife's policy which led to some interesting items I thought I would share. Why Did I Convert a tiny portion [...]
