Get off Your Ass and Follow Through with your Business Idea

I have this buddy who sat me down over a “couple” drinks and told me about this really cool product he wanted to create.  I loved the idea.  So instead of just letting this one go I went online and found all the supplies we would need from China.  We could made a bunch (way more than we needed) for  a few hundred bucks and some sweat equity. I didn’t want to hijack this project so all I did was forward him the information. Nothing Happened.  Every time we would get together we would talk about it, and I would remind him that I [...]

What is COLA? And Why is this Soda Angering Retirees?

News has come out that Social Security payments will not be increasing this year for the 58,000,000 retirees across the United States. Social Security increases are known as Cost Of Living Adjustments, and social security isn’t the only one that increases because of COLA.  Many pension systems, deferred compensation techniques, annuities and even some buy-sell agreements rely on regular Cost of Living Adjustments. She had said that she heard they were “different” and wanted to know what made them different from the rest of the country. I wasn’t going to write this post but then I saw a post over about weddings from a phenomenal blogger who I have little in common with but is awesome.  Ramit from I will Teach You To be Rich fame has a great post on how to pay for expensive weddings. Four caveats. First, I will [...]

Do You Need to a Goldman Sachs Career to Get into Government?

Last Summer I read Alan Greenspan’s, “The Age of Turbulence” and I remember how shocked I was that the names he was dropping were still in government despite it being decades later.  Greenspan even mentions Hank Paulson! So when I saw CNBC’s “Highest Profile Goldman Sachs Alums” I knew I had to check it out. Goldman Sach Partners and Executives in The Government There are plenty of conspiracies out there about the connections between the government and Goldman Sachs.  There is even a best selling book in China about the connections.   I just wanted to highlight a few, but if this type of information [...]

Back in July Fortune came out with the World’s Biggest Corporations. According to Forbes, “Companies are ranked by total revenues for their respective fiscal years ended on or before March 31, 2010.”  Despite each company being massive,  I was shocked how many within the top 100 that I had never heard of! World’s Biggest Corporations By Revenue At the top you obviously have your Wal-Mart, Royal Dutch Shell, Exxon Mobil BP Toyota But what about the other 95? Here are some of the ones I had never heard of that are found within the top 50 largest corporation by revenue (descriptions from Google [...]
