Hilarious. Loves these posts! I think it's plain and simple, women are too sensitive and irrational, and guys are usually right. That's at least what Evan told me, wifey!

The male ego is a *very* fragile thing, especially when you begin to challenge the social construct with the man providing for his family.

So if you say the wrong thing to hit the most sensitive of nerves when surrounded by the correct people, be prepared to watch a near immediate change in body language... accompanied by pouting or severe acting out.

It's funny that you've stumbled upon something that really seems to hit a nerve in the male psyche.

Even as we've moved away from the John Wayne/caveman mentality and allowed that men do have known things known as "feelings," there are some things that seem hard-wired into almost all men (American men, anyway).

Although some stay-at-home dads have come to terms with this, there's still largely the belief that men should be the providers. And I know all too well the feeling that I'm failing in my duties because we can't move into a house and have to stay in our condo.

At least you're aware of it, though -- good luck with staying on the right side of this issue!
