I'm not sure what people are thinking, that this stimulus will make things better. It breaks my heart to think of people struggling financially, but a one-time stimulus check is not the answer to our long-term problems. The government will NOT (or should not) send you a check each month for rent and food, some situations excluded.

If you haven't recently lost your job, ect., what has changed that you suddenly need this check? We're dealing with rising food costs in our household by cutting back, mainly by eating out less and planning our meals around sale items. If I can feed my hungry, hard-working husband and myself on $45 per week while food prices rise, other families can also find ways to cut back.

The point is, we all need to deal with our problems without expecting a bailout. If you're stretched so thin that price increases are strangling your budget, something's got to give and you need to re-evaluate your financial situation.

I've heard so many people say that a check now would help with Christmas. Glad to see that they understand the true meaning of the holidays - consumerism!

I don't understand what people are going to do when there is no stimulus check the next month? or next year?

"HELP THE ONES WHO WANTS TO HELP THEMSELVES PLEASE THANK YOU"

Sigh.

You're not being insensitive. While I know unemployment is up and incomes are down, we've gotten ourselves into this mess by overspending and undersaving. A second stimulus check will not solve this problem.

If you want to help yourself, great! Do it. Cashing a government check is not "helping yourself."

My husband and I earn about half of what our friends do, yet we live more comfortably. While everyone else is going crazy about having no money for Christmas (did you see that the average spending dropped from $800 to $400 this year?), we're doing what we always do - sticking to our budget and buying meaningful gifts for those closest to us.

If you need a stimulus check to pay for rent and food, something is very wrong. Spend less - it can be done. We need to stop spending more than we earn and then asking for handouts. That goes for families and corporations...
