When is it Time to Give Up a Dream?

I am not entirely sure how facebook decides who should be in my feed when I am on my way to my latest stupid gaming addiction* but currently facebook often throws in someone that I went to high school with who is in a band touring dive bars.  It seems that band is partially successful with paid gigs, but not too successful since they were bragging about a new tour bus with air conditioning.  Seeing her updates pretty regularly leads me to the question of - when is it time to give up a dream? The simple answer of "life is too [...]

Of Course Credit Score Matters to Women

I believe that as humans we often refuse to acknowledge that we are animals, and as animals, we have certain instincts whether we are even conscious of them.  While those instincts can and are often suppressed by society...they sometimes break out without anyone even noticing.  For example, why do 17 year old males feel the need to have a flashy car, or do stupid shit in front of females? They are peacocking: Peacocking is the action or actions exhibited in the beginning stages of courting. These actions are typically only temporary and exist during "the chase" of a mate. August 2013 Dividend Stock Watchlist Update

I am not sure why but in the last 18 months or so of updating my watchlist for everyone to see I never shared what I bought the month after...and no one ever called me out! So out of my July dividend watch list Update (July 15, 2013) I bought: 15 Shares of Coke (KO) at $40.64 with commissions - $617.66 (July 15, 2013) 11 Shares of HCP at $45.47 with commissions - $508.12 (July 24, 2013) This (along with every other) update takes a snapshot of certain metrics. Ideally, I would revisit these metrics every single time I went to buy [...]

How Do You Want Your Survivors To Live? Are You Set Up That Way?

I believe that people often forget the real reason for most life insurance policies which is to provide for your family if you were to prematurely pass away.  With that being said, the next question is "how much" do you want to provide? I was talking to The Wife recently about my previous upgrade and update of of life insurance and she thought I was overinsured! I couldn't believe it, because the insurance is for her and my child(ren).   Regardless of the amount of insurance I purchase my clear goal is not to die early. What Does My Current Life Insurance Provide [...]

I Can’t Believe I Have Been Blogging for 5 Years!

August 5th came and went without me even thinking about the fact that I it is the anniversary of when I started this little site! It is weird to think about how engrained this site has become in my life...it is just something I "do."  I was so oblivious that the date was coming up that I wrote a post that would be perfect about how my financial life has changed about a month and a half ago.  Wow that would have been perfect lol! Instead I decided on continuing the list I created last year about my favorite posts throughout the [...]
